Our history

Early in 2003, St. John's Anglican Church in Vancouver began praying and preparing for the establishment of one or more new Christian congregations in the Greater Vancouver region. In April 2004, a group of interested people gathered together to pray specifically for a Biblically faithful Christian witness in the Anglican tradition.

The intersection of long-term prayer, established relationships, gospel faithfulness and vision, committed leadership, and our very generous host church, Broadmoor Baptist Church, resulted in the informal establishment of “St. John's Richmond”. In July 2005 we began meeting weekly on Thursday nights to study God's Word, to teach our children, to encourage one another in Christ, and to reach out into Richmond with the good news of God's rescue through Jesus Christ.

What began informally on Thursdays has grown with the addition of Sunday morning services, a comprehensive children and youth ministry, partnership with the Artizo ministry training program, relationships with several local and international missions agencies, several staff members serving the congregation, and a dedicated ministry team involving the whole congregation in different ways.

It has been our intention and, we believe, God's particular vision, to establish a more comprehensive Christ-focused presence in Richmond, in the Anglican tradition. We are grateful to God that he has grown our congregation, an imperfect but enthusiastic gathering of forgiven sinners.
