Children at SJR

Our children are a blessing. Our God-given task is to nurture them in the love of Jesus and his word.

Primarily, this is to happen at home. At SJR we want to support you as you train your children. One of the most effective ways to do this is to invite you to teach children in organized settings, which will help you gain confidence to do the same with your own children or grandchildren.

Sunday Morning Children's Church

We offer the following gatherings for children at SJR on Sunday Mornings:

Little Ones (0-4 yrs old) Nursery

Primary Kids (K – Grade 3) Blue Room

Intermediate Kids (Grade 4-5) Yellow Room

These groups are not simply 'Sunday school', but a comprehensive, age-appropriate experience of what 'church' ought to be like: Sharing fellowship, food, feeding on God's word, prayer, and praise.

Elementary Bible Study (Grades 1-5)

Thursdays 7:00-9:00
As a part of Thursday Family Bible Study Night we run and introduction to Bible Study for Elementary aged children.

It is our continued conviction that intentional, high-quality children’s ministry during the week (in addition to Sunday mornings) is very important in their spiritual development, and is a loving response to God’s call to teach our children.   The elementary Bible Study will consist of a time of teaching and prayer as well as a time of fellowship and relationship building in which we will play some games together, have a snack while we talk with the kids about life and spiritual things.  This fall we will be discussing some of the big question of life from the Westminster Shorter Catechism: What is our purpose in life?  What is the Bible? Who is God?  What is sin?  And how are we saved?
